A vibrant expression of Grenache at its most charming, this 2025 vintage captivates with its bright cherry red hue and fragrant aromatics. The nose opens with enticing floral notes of rose and violet, layered over fresh mulberry, raspberry, and quince.

The palate is sweet-fruited, round, and sensuously textured, with an abundance of forest berries that dance across the mouth. Despite being completely dry, the wine's generous fruit character creates an impression of natural sweetness. The finish is soft and lingering, leaving a delicate, perfumed impression. Perfect for summer drinking, this seductive Grenache is best served cool and enjoyed over the next two years while its vibrant fruit expression is at its peak.

The grapes were harvested, destemmed, cold-soaked for 1-2 days to encourage the
extraction of soft tannins, whole berry fermented (in the absence of stalks) in small open fermenters for ten days. The resultant wine was basket-pressed into a mixture of old American and French oak barrels and aged until just prior to bottling allowing fruit expression to dominate the wine.

Analysis - 14.3% v/v Alcohol, pH 3.52 & TA 5.3g/L, <1.0g/L residual sugar (Dry).

The 2025 vintage will be noted for another dry Winter, Spring frosts and even drier growing conditions. A warm growing season led to one of the earliest harvests on record with Grenache being hand-picked on the 19th of March. Grenache is recognised as one of the standout varieties for Vintage 2025 in the Barossa Valley.

The grapes for this wine were grown on an ironstone ridge just west of Tanunda, planted around 1960, without a trellis or irrigation for fortified wine production. In a drying climate, irrigation was introduced recently to maintain vine-health, but the vines remain as Bush Vines to this day.

Australia built an excellent fortified wine industry based around Grenache which made a high quality early maturing Tawny Port (as it was then called) wine from the 1840’s through to the late 1970’s. The Barossa Valley was the heart of this industry with many of the large producers based there and exporting fortified sweet wines in barrel to Great Britain up until just prior to World War 2.

In its home country, Grenache is a valuable component in many southern Rhone Valley table-wine blends which are renowned the world over. In the past decade or so, Grenache has enjoyed a renaissance with recognition in GSM (Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre) blends, sometimes in different combinations and more recently as a standalone varietal.
