The grapes were harvested, destemmed, cold-soaked for 1-2 days to encourage the
extraction of soft tannins, whole berry fermented (in the absence of stalks) in open fermenters. The Mourvèdre was held on skins for three and a half weeks to build structure.

The 2020 vintage will be noted for its paucity of rain (2019 rainfall at Nuriootpa was the lowest on record), which resulted in light crops around 50% of the five year average. Cooler than average temperatures in January through March promoted the development of excellent fruit flavour and high colour levels yet retaining elegance. It is regarded as a solid vintage with good flavour concentration.

This wine is sourced from vineyards grown at around 300m elevation on the Barossa Valley floor.
