The grapes were harvested, destemmed, cold-soaked for 1-2 days to extract soft
tannins, then fermented (in the absence of stalks) in open fermenters. The resultant wine was aged in a mixture of old American & French oak barrels together with some newer barrels.

Analysis - 14.8% v/v Alcohol, pH 3.48 & TA 6.8g/L, <1.0g/L residual sugar (Dry).

The 2021 vintage was a season of contrasts, September frosts (for some), a relatively hot November (4°C above average) then a relatively mild December/January, with some timely rainfall in February.

It is regarded as an exceptional vintage with excellent colours, richness intensity and balance. This late release shows remarkable freshness of flavour and promises longevity with careful cellaring.

This wine is sourced from family vineyards located on a frost-free ironstone ridge west of Tanunda.

The vineyards are grown at around 300m elevation on the Barossa Valley floor above the North Para River and adjacent to the ancestral home of the Auricht family.
